thanks

I'm currently recovering from a lame flu-like illness that I no doubt incurred over my busy t-day weekend which started with a casual night on wednesday. Up bright and early thursday morning for a hike up in north boulder. Post hike, stephanie prepared some foodstuffs while joaquin and andy dropped by. Then we all headed over to Hillside for the big feast. Afterwards, steph & I headed back into boulder to sync up at jeff & jen's place for a gathering which culminated in a lot of way drunk folk. Stayed out a bit later than would have been ideal, since we had to get up and meet everyone for a tailgate at 8am the next morning.

Somehow stephanie got up at 5 or something crazy to get a 'black friday' gift for her sister, but morning still came too soon for me. We grabbed some breakfast burritos at santiago's then headed over to the tailgate spot. Kickoff was at 10am against Nebraska, and it was freezing, overcast, and snowy. No worries, we made up some hot toddies inside and watched CU come away with a 65-51 victory. Took it easy that night until I discovered that my garbage disposal had a major leak, and there was a huge puddle of sludge under the sink. I guess I only got worked up for a minute until I decided to go back to taking it easy by going to bed. Saturday morning I went garbage disposal shopping with paul, and now I'm the proud owner of a spiffy new 3/4 horsepower Badger. Later on jacq & dylan came by for a pizza party at my place. Then it was off to the Larimer Lounge to go check out The Bronz. I rolled tape for the guys, as well as somehow fell off an amp I probably shouldn't have been standing on top of anyway. Note to self - no climbing on things. Woke up sunday and that's when the sickness hit. As miserable as I felt, we were all meeting up at 2pm to see the Nutcracker on campus with lauren & renn, so I toughed it out, then called it a night. And monday was a sick day.

fiesta de montreal

The first major snow fall with accumulation occurred last night, and it got chilly, quite the opposite of last weekend's temperateness which started friday when Stephanie whipped up a mexican fiesta for dinner and we watched Planet Terror which didn't quite hold my interest as much as the other Grindhouse movie, Deathproof. Saturday morning we went to pawn shops in Longmont for the hell of it. The combination of pawn shops, Longmont, and an overcast day were getting depressing, so We headed back to my place for some lunch before heading to denver that night. We had dinner at Los Margaritas, home of the big ass margarita.

Then we walked over to the Ogden to check out the Of Montreal show. Got into the venue and set up my gear. Then settled back for the opening acts. The first was called Mgmt, and were pretty decent - kind of neopsychedalia. Next up was Grand Buffet - a couple of white boy comedic rapper hacks who would have been better off working as roadies. Their only redeeming quality was that their lack of instruments to be cleared offstage made for a quick set break at least. During this time the tour manager informed me that they hadn't been allowing any taping on this tour since they were making a dvdtron. Tonight however, they were not, so I was in the clear. Once they hit the stage, they had quite the elaborate set-up, with multi-level light up risers and 3 large video screens. They played about an hour's worth of material from their last three albums, then broke into a 50 minute or so epic jam. I haven't hashed out the setlist yet, and won't be posting the show (per request). So if you do want a copy, let me know.

Post show we headed to joaquin's for a ragin' house party. We showed up just in time to see jacq go to sleep and for The Bronz to take the stage (well, living room). Plenty of cheap beer kept the party rocking til the wee hours when we took up overnight residence.

rough week

I just realized it's friday already and there's been no mention of my goings-on from the past while. My week was thrown for a bit of a loop when I started vomiting relentlessly on monday night while watching Heroes. That was followed by a feverish night of no sleep and a day on the couch taking turns watching dvdtrons and the insides of my eyelids.

Prior to my start of the week collapse, I had an enjoyble weekend at least. Stephanie cooked a feast of cornish game hens et al on friday night. CU had an away game at Iowa State and it was only being televised on some unreasonable channel that no one but sports bars get, so we headed to Harpo's at 10am to watch. That place was sure festive, we got there just in time to score a good table before it got to crowded. Meg & Paul wound up joining us at the half, right when we started to blow our 21-0 lead. What a crap second half, we wound up losing 31-28 after two last minute field goals where called back for timing infractions. The ref who made both calls used to be a Nebraska QB - I'm just sayin'. After the game we had a few drinks over at jacq's before heading to Jody's b-day tiki party in broomfield. Two red bulls, a couple of tequila shots, and numerous PBR bottles later I was the life of the party. At least I think I was.

I got another A in my last class and was scheduled to start another one last night, but I figured I deserve a break for all of my hard work, and I wasn't much in the mood to be studying over the upcoming holidays. So I joined the new gym by my house instead, since it's too dark to go running or anything after work now.

vs. mizzou

Started off the weekend with dinner & movie accompanied by stephanie. We dined at the Casa, and then took in a viewing of The Darjeeling Limited, another quirky soul searcher from Wes Anderson. Sweet lime anyone?

Saturday was game day, so we all headed to campus for a tailgate prior to the CU / Missouri game. Pulled pork bbq was on the menu, and we feasted. Came across a corralled Ralphie while walking around.

Stephanie scored some sweet tickets from work - front row on the CU goal line. Too bad this was our only touchdown of the game which we wound up losing horribly 55-10.

We ditched the game at halftime and grabbed some grub at Steph's before meeting up over at Jacq's to go to some house party. One of Renn's pals drove us all over to the party, but it was kind of dead - just a bunch of zoned out hippies. The most exciting thing they had going on was some fire twirling, so we didn't stay long.

Sunday was casual - watched the Pats give it to Manning and worked on the final paper for my current class.

happy halloween

Stephanie came over for halloween dinner last night to help me with the myriad of trick or treaters. I had a ton of home work to do and people seriously drop their kids off in my neighborhood. Groups come up to the door a dozen at a time. We ran out of candy at 8pm, but by then we just started to get the older kids that were probably on their way to go vandalize stuff on a sugar high anyway. Steph did a great joOooaerb carving up our pumpkins from the patch:
