keystone / spring cleaning

Hit up keystone saturday, and they had about 4-6" fresh with light snow all day. A solid day on the slopes, and no traffic heading home with our raisin bread PB sandys courtesy of Meg.

Sunday was casual, we went and signed up for a costco membership since sam's closed, and did some random spring cleaning.

bachelor weekend

Band of Horses kicked off their tour in Colorado, and I was sort of on the fence about going then they sold out pretty quick, and I was not too bummed. But then I scored a pair of freebies for the Denver show at the Ogden, so hey free show. They were good not great. I dug the material from their first album the most. Their newer stuff has a bit too much twang and starts to sound same-y after a while. But all in all, not bad for a free show on a tuesday.

Stepha went to Moab with the ladies for a half marathon so it was a bachelor weekend for me and the Ruggler. Friday night I just chilled out and caught up with some tele. Saturday, I headed up to Breck with Greg & Andy. It was the beginning of spring break, but the slopes were deserted. Our best guess was that everyone went to Vail because they reported 9", but the storm was really friday morning, hence our Breck choice. Vegged out the rest of the night with some more tele.

Sunday morning I stopped by hillside to wish my dad a happy b-day. When I got home, I finally got around to bottling my first batch of beer. The recipe I used was called Crested Butte Porter (Crestys), but since I added to the recipe by dry hopping the batch for a few weeks, I figured I had earned the right to call them Preo Cresty Porters (PCP). Anyway, naming aside, bottling was immensely satisfying. The batch yielded 6 bombers, and 35 regular bottles worth. Now I just have to wait another 3 weeks before I can try them out.

last(?) bronze show

Steph & I headed up to Keystone saturday for a solid half day. The snow softened up as the sun peeked out, and we hit some great powder in the wolfden.

Later that night we headed to Three Kings for the last Bronze show, and this crazy lady death thing kept following us around, and mysteriously home as well.

vail condo '10

Headed up to Vail after work friday. Greg & Andy had gone up earlier in the day and were hanging out when we showed up. Steph made some lasagna for dinner, Lauren & Renn arrived a bit later on. I hit the hay relatively early, I was pretty tired for some reason. Gina & Oz were at the DU hockey game so they got there after I had gone to bed.

Got up early enough to get on the hill for first chairs, and 4-6 inches of fresh. We headed to Blue Sky and rode fresh most of the morning and I finally got to grill that burger! After lunch we headed over to Pete's area for a while then Chair 10/11 before calling it a day around 3-ish.

There was a major wreck on I-70 so vail pass was closed for a while. Jacq wound up detouring through Minturn, and Bridget just waited it out shopping in Frisco.

We all played a bunch of Blokus which is way too addictive.

And then the shotski made an appearance.

Jacq brought up a cake for Andy's b-day, and it later became a re-enactment scene of his fall on friday.

Sunday, we cleaned up the condo and hit the road early to avoid the insane sunday traffic. Later on we went to hillside for our annual Oscar dinner party. This year's menu:

Appetizers:
Invichummus (Invictus)
Crazy Artichoke Heart and Spinach Dip (Crazy Heart)
MattaDamian Nuts (Matt Damon)

Beverages:
Penelope Booze – assorted wines and beers (Penelope Cruz)

Main Courses:
Cheese Avatart (Avatar)
Carey Mulligan Stew (Carey Mulligan)

The Blind Side Dishes:
Up in the Pear Salad (Up in the Air)
Inglorious Batards (Inglourious Basterds)

Dessert:
C“UP” cakes - chocolate with cream cheese or German chocolate frosting (Up)

And I was the lucky winner of the Oscar pool with 16/24 correct picks!

moonspeed alpha basin

Friday we headed into denver right after work and had dinner at the Hornet. We were a bit early for the Moonspeed show across the street at the Hi-Dive, but we went in anyway since we didn't have anything to do. We both wound up passing out on the couch in the back at different times, before Moonspeed finally hit the stage at 11.30 or su'in ridiculous. Great set despite the long wait - seriously it said doors at 8...

Saturday steph had a run, while I conquered the Temple of Time. When she got back, I went for a quick jog in the snow, watched some olympics then my parents took us to a nice celebratory dinner at Brasserie Ten Ten.

Sunday we got nice and early and headed to A-Basin with Paul and met up with the Boulder car over breakfast at the lodge. Light snow all day. I took out my old board again since the Basin had not gotten much snow lately, and wound up snapping the toe strap on my rear binding early in the day. You can kind of see it flapping around below:

Aprés ski, we headed to Southern Sun to finish up stout month, which was all fine and dandy until the burnout waitstaff overcharged us $25 for beers, but none of them could decipher the bill. Later we watched the closing ceremonies with great appearances by Bill Shatner and inflatable beavers.
