sts9 live PA @ the fox

STS9 did a three night PA run colorado this week, and we were lucky enough to snatch tix for the show at the Fox. Had some pre-show drinks over at andy's, and caught the end of the first opener's set - one of the guy's from the Motet and another guy (their name escapes me at the moment). They were pretty cool and apparently play around town a bunch, may have to check them out again. Next up was Lazor Swordz or su'in, and they were average-y sounding glitch hop, and I was really just counting down until STS9 who brought the sauce! Soon after they started, everyone we came with split unexpectedly. Oh well, steph & I got to soak in the 2+ hour set of wicked re-worked material and a cool new lighting set-up. Post show we made some pizza and watched Beerfest back at steph's place.

bachelor padded

Steph was out of town visiting her sister all weekend so I basically bachelored around my hut all weekend, working on a paper, and cleaning up a bit. I also watched Inland Empire which is way out there - 3 hours worth of way out there. The mountains got a bunch of snow, so I decided to head up to a-basin on sunday. Five fresh inches overnight, five from the day before, and it snowed all day, so the conditions were sure swell. I rode the frontside of the mountain all day because the backside & montezuma bowl were pretty much whited-out.

tapes & sun

Friday night steph whipped up some tofu fried rice and we chillaxed at her place. Saturday, after I did some homework and everyone else returned from skiing, we all met up at southern sun for their aprés ski special - free wings with a pitcher, one of the unique menu items that the southern location has to offer. We made a festive time of it, and even bumped into ryan & alyssa. Many a java porter was consumed before steph & I headed to the hill for the Tapes 'N Tapes show at the Fox. We had time to kill so we stopped in the Sink for some more food & brews. The opener did not make a lasting impression, but the Tapes² rocked it for close to two hours. Post show we hit up abo's for some slices and called it a night. Sunday I finished up my paper and steph made a delicious dinner with the other white meat.

I am not a number

Patrick McGoohan died yesterday. He was an actor best known for his work in the British television series The Prisoner, and best known to me as the voice from the Iron Maiden song of the same name:

vail meatstick reduxe

Steph & I had date night at ¡Ajuua! on Friday, and we hit up Vail on Saturday, which was awesome. My vindication for missing out over NYE. And I picked up the wild game meatsticks that I had left at the condo. Steph almost launched a cliff by accident, kind of in the same area where she fractured her tibia last year - we should prolly stay away from 'dragon's teeth'. Afterwards, we headed back to Milo and watched tele the rest of the night. Sunday I cranked out a paper, and steph helped with some research which was awesome. Then she made a veal stuffed meatball extravaganza. We woke up to a snow storm on Monday, completely unexpected by the weather people, so the morning drive took forever.

out with a whimper

We headed to Vail on Tuesday night after work. Got in around midnight I think and immediately passed out. The next morning I did some homework while steph hit up Breck. Greg, Jacq & Andy showed up in the meantime. We started in on the champagne early, had fondue for din, and then homemade pizzas later. We never made it out of the condo. By this time I fell victim to one of those debilitating colds and I was out of commission. The rest of the gang stayed up until who knows when celebrating – horns, hats and shot skis.

New Year’s day I spent in bed the whole time. Jacq, Andy and Steph overslept and spent the day lounging at the condo totally hungover while Lauren/Renn/Greg skied Vail. We had a Mexican fiesta for dinner. The next day I rallied a bit and watched some movies and burned wood while waiting for everyone to get back from the slopes. We had a big pasta dinner, and left the next morning in a massive snow storm. We stopped at steph's and she made some great chili, then I headed home to work on a massive paper I had due. I started a new class on monday, and finished up my last one on tuesday.
