oscar party '11

Friday we caught up on some tele. Saturday we ran some errands in boulder, and finally got a chance to check out Reuben's, the Belgian beer & burger joint where the scottish restaurant used to be. We tried a few great belgian brews for their halfy hour. This Petrus flanders style was a standout:

v-day fondue

Wednesday we celebrated valentines with a two course fondue dinner - cheese & oil.

Friday we had a fondue encore with a veggie stock broth, watched most of the A-Team movie until Ruggles spilled wine on Stepha's lappy - yikes!

Saturday we headed up to Winter Park - it was a gorgeous day for skiing but it was crowded as fuck because of presidents day weekend which we totally spaced. So we put in a 1/2 day then hit up Southern Sun for stout month on the way home. Still no Girl Scout Stout on tap - we keep missing that one. Later that night we went to the BIFF to take advantage of my free tix from flyering for the event. On the way we stopped in at Mountain Sun and finally had a GS Stout! The film we saw was a russian one called The Edge about trains in post WWII Siberia. The dvd kept skipping, so about halfway through they finally switched it out for a watermaked version.

Sunday Steph had to study & take an exam, so I played Donkey Kong Country Returns all day. Later that night we sampled a handful of the Mikkeler single hop series.

seBADohah

We were postponing V-day until wednesday since Steph had class and I went to the Sebadoh show at the Larimer Lounge tuesday. They were touring behind the Bakesale & Harmacy re-issues, so most of the set was culled from those two albums plus a couple oldies at the end of the set. They sounded better than I remember when I saw them on the original Bakesale tour at the Masquerade years and years ago - very on point. Quasi opened who were kind of boring.

tvtron

Friday I saw ex-coach Hawkins at the gym which was kind of funny. Saturday we went to Ultimate Electronics which was going out of business and snagged a new tv. Then we picked up some additional home furnishings and rearranged the living room when we got home - finally have a turntable downstairs which is nice.

Sunday I put the tv to the test and played the heck out of the new Donkey Kong Country.

mid week ridin'

I volunteered to hand out BIFF flyers at shops around Lafayette so I spent monday and tuesday getting those out.

Wednesday was chilly, but not a cloud in the sky so I went to Winter Park. The Panoramic lift was open for the first time open for the first time since it broke last week so there were tons of freshys!

cupcakery

Friday night we celebrated Meg's b-day with a pizza party over at LauRenn's. They made the pizzas, and we provided a variety of fanciful cupcakes we had worked on all week - margarita, mocha, and cookies & cream.

Saturday morning I went to a volunteer meeting for the BIFF while Steph grabbed us some Moe's bagel sandwiches for breakfast volunteer meeting, checked out Pearl Street for a bit after that. Later that night we had mexican dinner at Heidi & Thomas's place.

Sunday we headed to Winter Park but Berthoud Pass was closed due to a slide, so we went to Copper along with

the rest of colorado - great snow though so no worries. We hit metered tunnel traffic on the way home but were still able to catch the second half of the superbowl.
