yard sale

Friday night we chilled out at the bear, watched the olympics, and made signage for steph's charity fundraising yard sale. We made 3 huge signs for the intersection of broadway & table mesa, then 5 more pointing you the rest of the way. Good thing we did to because it seemed as if everyone up table mesa was having some sort of yard sale! Got up early on saturday to post the signs, get breakfast, and setup (not a min too soon because of course people were showing up early). Most of the items were 'donated by or left at steph's sorority so everything was priced to move! Some folks joined us to help (and rummage) as the day wore on. It was a great success, and the girls wrapped up just before it started raining, as I was riding my bike back from abo's with pizza's for the helpers. We watched some more olympics then headed back to milo and watched some weird movie. Sunday I spent writing a paper for my corporate finance class.

As you can see below, Lauren found something of interest:

I was not as successful, however:

b-day bbq

Steph took me to D'napolis friday night for a romantic birthday meal, where we bumped into lauren & renn who are apparently regulars - hahaha. The next morning the girls had to run 16+ miles or su'in crazy for training, but they were rained out. It was raining hard and got ridiculously cold out of nowhere. Heidi was throwing a fashion show in conjunction with the Fringe Fest so steph & I met up with jacq & andy at the mountain sun for lunch, and then totally missed the fashion show. Then we met up with everyone at the west end, met up with some more folks over at the rio, then probably unnecessarily wandered over to the b-side lounge. Left there around 6pm and went back to steph's to watch the olympics. I love when the olympics are on, because you always have something to watch. Even the weird sports are interesting because you only watch them once every four years.

Sunday afternoon we had a casual bbq at hillside for my birthday, and I got this sweet amp:

Thanks everyone!

staycation '08

Jay was intown all last week for my staycation. I was still bent on tubing so we bought another tube wednesday morning and headed to Eben Fine, we didn't make it long before jay crashed and maybe it wasn't the best idea to be hitting the Boulder Creek rapids since he had knee surgery a while back. So we packed it up and headed to the movies and saw Pineapple Express which was awesomely funny. Steph joined us for dinner later that night - we bbq'ed all week. Thursday we headed to denver to catch a Rockies day game, which turned out to be a double header since the night before was rained out. Too bad we lost both games... to the last place Nationals. Still the weather was nice, and you can't beat 7+ hours of entertainment in the rockpile for $4.

Friday afternoon we headed into to town and joined our working friends for happy hour at bacaro. Then we headed back to steph's to watch the opening ceremonies after stopping for some dinner at Southern Sun. Saturday was my newly annual birthday party kegger at the Bear. Steph prepared an island feast of kabobs and other delicious sundries while we reveled with the 'beach party' theme - kiddie pools, 100 pounds of sand, a pinata, rafts, surf videos, etc. Sunday we took jay to the airport then cleaned up some of the party mess. Then I took what was left of the keg over to andy's to polish off while we watched some more olympics.

rollin on the river

Totally excited by last week's tubing folk, we decided to give it a try ourselves. So saturday steph & I picked up a couple of fresh inner tubes at the corner gas station on arapahoe & broadway and headed up to Lyons. Our first stop was the Oskar Blues resty for lunch. It was cool, since we got to try some beers on tap that they don't have canned - 'white pepper' and a brown.

After lunch we locked my bike up in some park and drove about a mile up the mighty St. Vrain, and pushed off with our tubes. The water level was kind of low, and about 5 minutes into our journey, my tube caught on a jagged rock and ripped. Somehow we managed to get down the rest of the river on just one tube. By now it had started getting stormy out so we headed back to boulder, stopping at Maya terrace for some margs. We got back to steph's, she took a nap and I watched the rox game on the teletron.

We went out to michelle's b-day at Seven and ran into jen, rizzo and heidi. After the b-day festivities were over, we checked out the new b-side lounge (formerly trilogy), then met back up with heidi and her new roommate, renea. Too many tequila shots at various bars later, we cabbed it home and passed out.

Sunday both of us woke up with the room was spinning. We headed back to milo, had a nice evening watching Mad Men and eating a pasta dinner.
