reev yoos
peaches - Impeach My Bush: Well, she certainly isn't the least bit subtle, and I guess that's her schtick. But as schtick goes, it works best in tiny doses, kind of like very small rocks that float.
hidden cameras - Awoo: Caught somewhere between the beach boys, rem, and the wedding present, all in a very urgent fashion. I almost kicked this one to the curb, but made my way through its entirety this morning hoping to find something akin to the bridge from 'I want another enema' from their last disc without having to listen to the asinine(!) chorus. It comes close enough.
portastatic - Who Loves the Sun: Simple sounding score to the film of the same name which I have yet to see. As with most score, the songs are far too short and underdeveloped without visual aid. But at least this gives Mac a chance to develop his arranging skills until we wait for the next portastatic or, with any luck, superchunk disc.
yo la tengo - I Am Not Afraid of You and Will Beat Your Ass: You better come correct with an album title like that, and as usual the yo la pretty much do. Unfortunately this isn't slated until an early fall release, so what I have in my hands is sort of a sampler, in so much as the songs are mostly complete, except for what seems like the last minute of each song. So I can vouch for about the first 80% of each song sounding pretty f-in good.
selector 23 - handpicked dub june 2006: Please don't fuck with the selector while he is selecting. Number two in an as of yet un-numbered monthly series of hand picked dub podcasts (clicky to subscribe). Some vocals seep through on this one, giving it a more rootsy feel than its predecessor.
