goin back to colly

Started the weekend off with a quick (and early) round of the OC game at j&d's. We were all heading up to copper super early the next morning, so we took it easy. Fade into 4.30 am saturday morning. I woke up before my morning paper was even delivered. We were worried about the parking sitch since copper had sent out emails that there was to be no onsight parking for the Gravity Games, and you would have to take a shuttle from Frisco or Silverthorne to get to the mountain. As it turns out, you could still park at the mountain, which we did because we were there by 6.45. Our early arrival afforded us the luxury of breakfast at Jax's and of course many fresh runs.

The events running on saturday were all over by the pipe & terrain park. We chose to take advantage of the uncrowded mountain instead of standing around at the competition (which will be broadcast at the end of the month on OLN anyway). The one thing we did see was when dylan & I stumbled accross the snowmobile freestyle demo over by the super bee. Picture if you will a snowmobile doing a rail slide, turning around in an embankment, then launching off a ramp into a backflip and landing - insane.

When we were finished riding, we dropped all of our gear off at the car, grabbed our roadies and headed back into center village for the afternoon festivities. Bumped into Hannah Teter in her haute couture / plaid plaid plaid world digs at the Burton tent, who placed 2nd in the women's super pipe earlier in the day with this performance:

We stuck around just long enough to see the Walkmen play, but left before J5, because we were all pretty beat and the show had started late. I was kind of pissed that they didn't play "We've Been Had" from the Saturn commercial, but oh well. Got back to boulder & refreshed in time to meet up at Styr with nathan and his buddy gary from michigan. We proceeded to the Rio, then camped out at the Scumdowner for a while before cabbing it back to nathan's for some chinese spirits.

Spent sunday all over the boulder creek path, first walking home from nathan & michelle's, then later in the day to go get my car I left downtown the night before.
