parts, labor, and other revelries

I picked up steph after work friday and then we headed to Bacaro to sync up with everyone for her birthday happy hour(s). After a few pitchers of sangria and plates full of tapas, we headed over to the B-side Lounge for a bit then ended up at the scumdowner with just a few braves souls left standing.

Then the strangest thing happened - steph woke me up at around 5 in the morning because we were both passed out in the back of my car which we found somewhat befuddling. Later that morning after sleeping in a bed for while, we had brunch at the Buff, then I headed back to Milo to do some homework. Steph came over later and we watched Run Fatboy Run which was OK, then a bit of SNL, which had the main Mad Men man as the host.

Sunday, I cranked out my paper by 3pm, went for a run, watched the first season of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, then steph made some squash soup and we watched the season finale of Mad Men.

I slept like crap sunday night, and was tired most of the day, but luckily rallied before class. The topic was capacity, and the teacher brought in a bunch of peanut butter, jelly, and bread, and we all created companies and had to figure out how to produce as much as possible, for the least amount of money, etc. After class I headed to the Hi-Dive for the Parts & Labor gig. Fucking amazing show. The 30-40 of us in attendance were treated to a solid hour of bombastic raw energy. They have a new drummer and an additional guitarist which changes the dynamic a bit so the keyboardist can devote 100% the keys. Their old drummer was a maniac on the skins, but the new vibe is still very cool, like an indie rock version of Rush or something. I chatted them up a bit before their set and here's a fun fact - their knob-twiddling effect peddle keyboard sound is indeed inspired by bagpipes. Holla!
