broken social show
Decided to check out the Broken Social Scene show tuesday night because I was very curious to disect their wall of harmonic fuzz. Figured I'd roll tape as well but I was shut down, after setting everything up of course. I was a bit miffed at this point, but remedied the situation by returning with my stealthy recording gear which I attached underneath a table. I'm always surprised at how well that little guy winds up capturing audio in a pinch.
The rotating 12 piece put on a great show. At times we had two drummers, two bassists, a violinist, plenty of horns, and perhaps the best use of four simaltainious guitarists since ministry ravaged lollapalooza over a decade ago. Female vocal duties were split between Feist and Metric, both of which merely moonlight in BSS having released proper, albight mediocre, solo discs. Just like some people pick between John & Paul, I'd have to say I prefer the much more vocally understated, yet eerily powerful Metric. I was a bit turned off by Feist, mainly due to her banter riddled opening set.
I'll post the show somewhere soon, but in the meantime here's the setlist:
'horn intro'
handjobs for the holidays
KC accidental
cause=time
fire eye'd boy
major label debut (slow)
stars and sons
ibi dreams of pavement (a better day)
anthems for a seventeen year old girl
7/4 (shoreline)
almost crimes
?
hotel
bandwitch
lovers' spit
superconnected
still your fag
-see & be scene-
