wednesday tune reviews

dean & britta - Back Numbers: The dynamic dating duo that used to be one half of luna has returned with their first post-luna album and second overall. Think of it to sound just like luna but mellower (if you can imagine) and with britta taking part in some of the vocal duties.

rjd2 - The Third Hand: Mr. RJ has taken a stylistic leap away from the hip-hoppiness of Since we Last Spoke and opted for some sort of indie-pop-rock type dealio here. The music's great, the singing is not.

the good, the bad & the queen - s/t: Not content to rest on his Gorillaz laurels, damon albarn returns along side studio-whiz dangermouse, paul simonon of clash fame on bass, the guitarist from the verve, and a drummer. Stylistically, it's signature albon, oddly moody, and mostly about the city of london. No guest rappers, not very dancey, and not seemingly pop-radio-friendly, you probably won't be hearing this one piped over the tin can soundsystem at the mall, even though it's a way better listen than the played out gorillaz vibe.
